The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) reports that the death toll in Himachal Pradesh has reached 80 due to heavy rain-related incidents and other causes. Of these fatalities, 52 are directly attributed to disasters such as landslides, flash floods, and cloudbursts. An additional 28 deaths have resulted from road accidents and other incidents. Mandi district has been the worst affected, recording 17 rain-related deaths, followed by Kangra with 11. The SDMA’s data, compiled between June 20 and July 7, also includes deaths from electrocution, snake bites, and falls. The state has also reported 128 injuries, damage to 320 houses, and 38 partially damaged, alongside significant losses to livestock and public infrastructure. The SDMA has confirmed numerous flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides, highlighting the widespread disruption across hill districts. Relief efforts are underway, with teams from NDRF and SDRF assisting in rescue operations. The public has been advised to exercise caution and avoid vulnerable areas.
