A government school teacher in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district has been arrested following accusations of sexually harassing at least 24 female students. The students, spanning classes 8th to 10th, reported the incidents to the school principal and the sexual harassment committee, alleging inappropriate touching by the mathematics teacher during a school event. The teacher has been remanded to police custody for three days, and a preliminary inquiry has been initiated, with the Director of School Education ordering an investigation. The accused has also been suspended from his position.
