The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a monsoon alert, predicting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in various parts of India from June 22 to 27. Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Marathawada are expected to experience intense downpours during this period. Northeast India is also likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next week. The southwest monsoon is rapidly advancing, with the IMD forecasting its arrival in the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea, Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh within the next two days. Conditions are also favorable for further advancement into Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Delhi is anticipated to receive rain starting June 22, potentially marking the earliest monsoon arrival since 2013. Continuous rain in several regions, including Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha, could lead to traffic disruptions and waterlogging during the forecast period.
