India is experiencing significant monsoon activity, with heavy to very heavy rainfall observed in several states between July 17th and 23rd. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for extremely heavy rainfall in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gangetic West Bengal. Central, eastern, southern, and northwestern regions can expect heavy to very heavy showers over the next few days. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also anticipated in many states. Meanwhile, Delhi is seeing rising maximum temperatures.
East & Central India: Extremely heavy rainfall is very likely in Odisha (July 24-25), Chhattisgarh (July 25-26), Madhya Pradesh (July 26-27), Vidarbha and Gangetic West Bengal (July 25). Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand between July 24-28. Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 Kmph) are expected for the next 7 days.
South Peninsular India: Extremely heavy rainfall is very likely in Coastal Karnataka on July 24. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Kerala, Mahe, and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka from July 24-29. Heavy rain is also anticipated in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and North Interior Karnataka from July 24-27. Strong surface winds (40-50 Kmph) are expected in South Peninsular India for the next 5 days.
Northwest India: Very heavy rainfall is likely in East Rajasthan (July 27-28) and West Uttar Pradesh (July 28). Heavy rainfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir (July 29-30), Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan (July 26-30), Uttarakhand (July 24-30), Punjab and Haryana (July 27-28), West Uttar Pradesh (July 25-30), and East Uttar Pradesh (July 24-30). Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is likely in the Western Himalayan region and plains.
Delhi Weather: Maximum temperatures are rising, while minimum temperatures remain relatively stable. Maximum temperatures are near normal, and minimum temperatures are below normal. Westerly winds with speeds up to 15 kmph, gusting to 30 kmph, were observed.
