The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted widespread monsoon rains across the country for Monday, July 21. Multiple states are under a heavy rainfall warning. The monsoon trough stretches from a low-pressure area over west Rajasthan, affecting weather patterns across northern India. This system is anticipated to bring relief from the prevailing hot and humid conditions.

South peninsular India, including Kerala, Mahe, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, are also expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. Bengaluru, Kolar, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, Mysuru, Chamarajanagara and Tumakuru districts may also experience heavy rain.
Strong surface winds are likely over Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Telangana. The southwest monsoon is normal over Karnataka. East and Central India, specifically Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Sikkim, and Bihar, will also see heavy rain.
In Northeast India, heavy rainfall is expected in Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh, with thunderstorms likely. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will also experience rainfall. The IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning in the region over the next 7 days. An orange alert has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Andhra Pradesh.
The Delhi-NCR region will experience increased rainfall activity this week. Very light rain is expected in Delhi on Monday with cloudy skies throughout the day.
