The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rainfall across numerous regions of India in the upcoming week. The department has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several states and union territories.
Rain is anticipated in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East and West Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan between July 16 and 21. During this period, very heavy rainfall is expected in Jammu and Kashmir and East Rajasthan on July 16, Uttarakhand on July 17, 20 and 21, and East Uttar Pradesh on July 16-17.
Monsoon activity is also expected to be strong in East and Central India. Heavy rainfall is likely in isolated areas of Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and West Bengal. Very heavy rainfall is possible, particularly in Western Madhya Pradesh on July 18 and East Madhya Pradesh on July 16-17.
West India has been warned of torrential rains in the Konkan, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra valley areas on July 20 and 21, while parts of Gujarat may experience heavy rainfall on July 16.
Northeast India is expected to continue receiving light to moderate rainfall throughout the week. At the same time, heavy rainfall may occur in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, and Tripura between July 19 and 21.
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall until July 21. Strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kmph are also likely in this region. Hot and humid weather conditions are anticipated over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema on July 16.
