The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning concerning heavy to very heavy rainfall anticipated across various regions of India. This monsoon activity is projected to affect parts of East, North, West, and Central India, potentially leading to travel disruptions and the risk of flooding. Residents are urged to exercise caution and limit outdoor activities to essential purposes. States under high alert include Uttarakhand and several northeastern states. Significant rainfall is also forecast for Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, and North Interior Karnataka, with expected impacts in Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam. Strong surface winds, with speeds of 30-40 kmph, are predicted for Andhra Pradesh and Yanam over the next five days. The northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall through September 23. Disruptions are also expected in Gujarat, Goa, and Maharashtra during the upcoming 4 to 5 days. Intense showers are predicted in isolated pockets of southwest Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The public is advised to avoid unnecessary travel to Chhattisgarh from September 24th to 26th and to Odisha from September 23rd to 26th. Cyclonic circulation is expected to enhance rain activity in these states.
