India has prolonged the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), effectively restricting its airspace for Pakistani aircraft and airlines, with the new deadline set for July 24. This marks the second extension of the NOTAM, which was originally scheduled to expire on June 23, 2025. The initial NOTAM was in effect from May 1, 2025, to May 23, 2025. The airspace closure, impacting planes operated, owned, or leased by Pakistani airlines and operators, including military flights, has been in place since April 30. The ban was implemented in response to the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, which resulted in 26 fatalities. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed the government’s decision to maintain the existing status, stating that the NOTAM had been extended without any changes. The fresh NOTAM, issued on June 23, 2025, reinforces the restriction, barring Pakistan-registered aircraft and those operated by Pakistani entities from utilizing Indian airspace. The decision follows a series of measures taken by India against Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the closure of the Attari land border crossing, and the downgrading of diplomatic relations.
