Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has clarified India’s stance on sporting engagements with Pakistan. He stated that India is open to participating in international tournaments involving Pakistan, including cricket and hockey. However, bilateral series remain off the table due to Pakistan’s alleged support for cross-border terrorism. The Hockey Asia Cup 2025, to be held in Rajgir, Bihar, is a potential platform for an India-Pakistan clash. Mandaviya confirmed that visas will be issued to Pakistani players. The Asia Cup is crucial, with the winner securing a spot in the 2026 Hockey World Cup. The tournament will feature eight teams, including India, Pakistan, and other Asian nations. Furthermore, the National Sports Governance Bill will be introduced in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament to enhance transparency and accountability in Indian sports.
