The President of the Indian Commonwealth Games Association added, “India’s bid is not just about capacity, but also about values. Ahmedabad is ready to take command from Glasgow 2026 and act as a foundation for the 2034 Games, ensuring that the centenary edition shapes the future of the Commonwealth Games while respecting the past.”
The 2030 Commonwealth Games hold historical significance as they mark the completion of 100 years of the Commonwealth Games movement. Ahmedabad has been selected as the host city for this centenary event, offering a dense sports venue focused on international-level event venues, robust transportation systems, and high-quality accommodations.
In line with the Games Reset principles, this proposal emphasizes affordability, inclusion, resilience, and sustainability. It is committed to the integration of para-sports, the protection of human rights, the promotion of gender equality, and the establishment of a long-term legacy framework. This ensures that benefits extend beyond the games to athletes, communities, and the broader Commonwealth.
With the successful hosting of events like the ICC Cricket World Cup, the Indian Premier League, and the 2022 National Games, Ahmedabad’s proven hosting record further strengthens India’s candidacy. The city will also host the Asian Aquatics 2025, the Asian Weightlifting Championships 2026, the World Police and Fire Games 2029, and many other multi and single sports events, thereby increasing operational experience by 2030.
