India’s Russian Crude Imports Reach 55% Amid BJP Critique

Data released this week shows that India imported roughly 28 lakh barrels of crude oil per day from Russia in July, accounting for 55.5% of the country’s total crude purchases. BJP spokesperson Rohan Gupta used the figures to challenge opposition parties, demanding they apologise to the government for earlier claims that India had halted Russian imports.

Gupta emphasized that the government will continue to source petroleum wherever national interest dictates and that no political party can force India to surrender its energy policy.
