India is set to make history by hosting the 11th Asian Aquatics Championship for the first time. The event, expected to draw over 30 countries and more than 1000 athletes, will spotlight Ahmedabad as a new aquatic hub in Asia. The official logo and mascot, ‘Jalveer,’ an energetic aquatic superhero, were unveiled by Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, at his residence in New Delhi, attended by senior dignitaries from the Swimming Federation of India (SFI). The championship is scheduled to take place from September 28 to October 11, 2025, at the newly constructed Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, a world-class facility built to Olympic standards. This event offers Indian athletes a significant opportunity to compete against Asia’s best and serves as a qualifying platform for the 2026 Asian Games. The mascot, ‘Jalveer,’ is designed to inspire the next generation of swimmers, symbolizing power, agility, and national pride. Hosting the championship is a strategic move by Gujarat towards its vision of bidding for the 2036 Olympic Games, showcasing world-class infrastructure and promoting aquatic sports across India.
