At the latest round of Quad foreign ministers’ talks held in the Indian capital, New Delhi made a strong pitch for safeguarding an open and stable Indo-Pacific. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar told his counterparts from Washington, Tokyo and Canberra that the four nations share a duty to preserve the region as a driver of global prosperity and security. Jaishankar pointed to immediate priorities such as diversifying supply chains, easing maritime chokepoints and reducing dependence on single-source manufacturing. He welcomed recent advances in maritime-domain awareness, critical technology collaboration and coordinated humanitarian missions. The ministers concluded that building strategic trust, enhancing economic choices and promoting transparent partnerships will be vital for addressing region-specific threats while turning shared challenges into avenues for sustainable development.
