Injured Suspect Abdul Salam Falls After Police Return Fire in Bahraich Forest

In the Bahraich district, police received a tip about three armed men attempting to smuggle two stolen bicycles to Nepal through the dense forests of Rupidiha. When the officers cornered the group, the suspects opened fire. In self‑defence, the police shot Abdul, also known as Abdul Salam, in the leg, causing him to collapse on the spot. Two of his accomplices escaped using the thick fog and darkness. A search operation continues in the forest to apprehend the fugitives. The raid also yielded an illegal pistol, cartridges and an unregistered motorcycle, all of which have been confiscated.
