Investigation Reveals Fictitious Measurements in ₹55.69 Lakh Tank Project

The Odisha Vigilance department’s latest findings expose a sophisticated fraud scheme involving fabricated measurement book entries worth INR 55,69,033. The case centers on the Pattanaik Tank refurbishment in Ganjapati district, where former junior engineer D. Yudhishthir deliberately entered inflated figures in official records. The falsified data were later authenticated by municipal engineer Sanjeev Champati during the mandatory check‑measurement process, permitting the release of the entire project fund to contractor Surendra Panigrahi. Post‑project technical verification demonstrated that the work was either nonexistent or executed with substandard materials, resulting in a financial shortfall for the state. The vigilance unit has filed a formal case against the three suspects at Brahmapur Vigilance Police Station.
