A 21-year-old man from Giridih district, identified as Krishna Rana, tragically drowned in Dimna Lake on Wednesday afternoon. He was visiting the lake with nine of his friends. While swimming in the lake with his friends, he went under and could not be saved in time.
According to reports, around nine young men, all carpenters, had gone to Dimna Lake. Six of them entered the water to swim. Krishna Rana, who entered the water last, suddenly began to sink in the deep water. His friends attempted to rescue him, but they were unsuccessful and had to come out.
Those present at the scene immediately informed the police, but the police did not arrive promptly. Instead of initiating rescue operations, they engaged in inquiries. The body of the young man was eventually recovered from the water by fishermen who arrived much later.
Local residents say that this is not the first drowning incident at Dimna Lake. There have been several previous accidents, but despite this, there are no lifeguards or warning boards in the lake area. After each incident, formalities are observed, whereas if concrete arrangements were made, many lives could be saved.
