In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended a Circle Officer (CO) in Palamu district, Jharkhand, for accepting a bribe of ₹30,000. The officer, identified as Shailesh Kumar, was caught red-handed while receiving the bribe within his office premises. The complaint against the CO was filed by Ajay Kumar, former head of Itko Panchayat, who alleged that the officer demanded the bribe for the mutation of land purchased by him and his friend. Following the complaint, the ACB conducted an investigation, confirming the allegations and subsequently laying a trap to catch the officer. This incident underscores the ongoing challenges of corruption within government offices in Jharkhand.
