In the Kumang village of Tapkara police station area, the police arrested Premchand Sahu on Saturday night, the accused in the murder of Saraswati Kumari, a minor girl who was living in a live-in relationship. The incident occurred on Saturday morning. Torpa circle police inspector Ashok Kumar Singh and Tapkara police station in-charge Nitesh Kumar Gupta shared the information during a press conference held at the Torpa police station on Sunday. Premchand Sahu is a resident of Malgo village in the Lapung police station area of Ranchi. It was reported that the police received a tip-off that the accused, Premchand Sahu, was planning to escape on a motorcycle.
Acting on the information, a raiding team arrested him from the Torpa police station area. During interrogation, the accused confessed to the murder of Saraswati Kumari. Based on his identification, the knife used in the murder, the motorcycle, a ‘doli’, and a mobile phone were recovered. The raiding team included Torpa circle police inspector Ashok Kumar Singh, Torpa police station in-charge Mukesh Kumar Hembram, Tapkara police station in-charge Nitesh Kumar Gupta, SI Shyamal Kumbhkar, and armed forces personnel from Torpa and Tapkara police stations. The police have sent him to judicial custody. The Tapkara police station in-charge denied the reports that the accused, Premchand Sahu, had escaped while in handcuffs and was caught after three hours. The police station in-charge said that some baseless news about the accused escaping was being circulated on social media.
