The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Ranchi, prompting the closure of all schools in the city. The order, issued by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri, applies to all government, non-government aided (including minority), and private schools from KG to Class 12. The decision was made in light of the red alert issued due to the potential for severe weather conditions. The order emphasizes that failure to comply could result in action under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
