Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Ranchi on July 10th. The Eastern Zonal Council meeting will be held at Hotel Radisson Blu in the capital. Amit Shah will preside over the meeting, with the state government having completed the necessary preparations. A joint secretary from the Union Home Ministry, Manoj Kejriwal, visited Ranchi on Thursday to review the arrangements. Changes have also been made to the traffic system.
The Jharkhand government will present several demands to the central government during the 27th meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council. These include outstanding dues, special central grants, the restoration of SRE funds, discussions on pending issues with Bihar and West Bengal, and a review of the progress report (ATR) of the 26th meeting.
Key issues to be discussed include: demands for outstanding dues from the central government, special central grants for development in Naxal-affected areas, the revival of the SRE fund in 14 formerly Naxal-affected districts, discussions on property and liability sharing with Bihar, and water-sharing issues with West Bengal. A review of actions taken on decisions made in the previous meeting will also be conducted.
The meeting will be attended by 68 participants, including Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore, and other high-ranking officials. Chief Ministers and ministers from Bihar, Odisha, and West Bengal will also be present.
