Ansari Warns Against Attacks on Tribal Traditions in Jamtara

Jamtara: Minister Dr Irfan Ansari on Wednesday underlined the importance of protecting tribal identity and traditions, while launching a sharp attack on the BJP. Addressing a historic yatra programme in Pahadpur of Narayanpur block as chief guest, he said attempts to undermine tribal culture would not be accepted.

He described the tribal community's civilisation and customs as the core identity of Jharkhand. In his view, the yatra is more than a religious and cultural event. It is a way to transfer the state's glorious legacy to the coming generations.

The minister warned that the yatra must not face any hurdles. He said complaints of illegal collection in the name of permission would be taken seriously, and that immediate action would be initiated against any police station or official found responsible.

Ansari claimed that the Hemant Soren-led state government is fully committed to the respect and conservation of tribal traditions.

He also questioned the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, alleging that complicated forms and procedures were causing hardship for ordinary people. Demanding impartiality in the electoral process, he raised objections to the role of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

According to him, the response to BJP policies would come through democratic means, and the Congress would continue to stand for people's rights and the Constitution.

Congress leader and political advisor Nishpati Hansda and local public representatives were among those present at the event.
