In a disturbing incident at the Basudevpur Colliery, security personnel were attacked by a group of anti-social elements near the colliery office around 10:30 PM on Monday. Three security guards were assaulted, with one sustaining a serious head injury. Reports indicate that a group of 5-6 individuals arrived at the office, where security guards Prem Kumar Upadhyay, Shankar Kumar Das, and Dilip Ravidas were present. The group initiated the confrontation with verbal abuse. When the guards protested, the assailants attacked them. Prem Kumar Upadhyay was seriously injured in the assault. Additionally, a heavy object was used to damage the fuel tank of a parked motorcycle. The injured security guard was initially taken to the Loyabad regional hospital for treatment. Due to the severity of his condition, doctors referred Prem Kumar Upadhyay to the BCCL Central Hospital in Dhanbad for advanced medical care. The incident was reported to the police by the management. On the second day, security personnel submitted a written application to the project officer, requesting enhanced security measures and action against the perpetrators. When questioned, security guards Shankar Kumar Das and Dilip Ravidas stated that the group of 5-6 people had initiated the violence, resulting in a head injury to one guard. They also confirmed that a vehicle was damaged during the incident. Colliery manager Santosh Choudhary confirmed the assault on three security personnel by anti-social elements and stated that a written complaint had been filed with the Loyabad police station. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
