BJP Imposing Outsiders on Jharkhand, Claims Irfan Ansari

In a statement issued on Monday, Dr. Ansari accused the opposition party of disregarding the state's talent by looking beyond its borders for Rajya Sabha representatives. He asserted that Jharkhand deserves to be represented by those who are intimately familiar with its unique socio-cultural fabric and the aspirations of its citizens. The Minister's remarks came after several informal meetings with BJP MLAs at the state assembly, where he urged them to break away from partisan constraints and vote in the interest of the state's 'Maati' (soil). Ansari threw his weight behind Pranav Jha, the candidate fielded by the Mahagathbandhan, describing him as a local choice who embodies the spirit of Jharkhand. He warned that the trend of imposing external candidates weakens the state's political autonomy and fails to address the genuine needs of the people. By appealing to the 'conscience' of BJP legislators, Ansari is attempting to frame the election as a battle between local identity and external influence. He noted that if the BJP MLAs and MPs truly care for the sentiments of the people they represent, they would see the logic in supporting a candidate who is a son of the soil, ensuring that Jharkhand's voice remains strong and authentic in New Delhi.
