A devastating road accident occurred in Chhatarmandu on Monday. A bus packed with passengers collided with a coal-laden truck, resulting in three fatalities. Approximately 24 other passengers were injured in the incident, with six reported to be in critical condition.
The deceased include the truck driver, Manish Kumar, a resident of Keredari Hazaribagh, and a woman named Vilaso Devi, a resident of Jena Mod Bokaro. After receiving initial treatment, more than half a dozen injured passengers were referred from Sadar Hospital to RIMS for better care. Upon receiving news of the accident, Ramgarh police arrived at the scene and initiated rescue operations.
According to reports, the driver of the bus, named Shri Gokul (JH 10 BM 8219), en route from Dhanbad to Ramgarh, attempted to overtake another vehicle, leading to a collision with a coal-laden truck (JH 13 C 0232) traveling in the opposite direction. The truck driver and a female passenger died at the scene.
Injured passengers were transported to the Sadar Hospital with the assistance of local residents. The doctor referred six critically injured individuals to RIMS after initial treatment. Many other passengers were treated at Sadar Hospital. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front ends of both vehicles were badly damaged.
An advocate was also among the passengers in the bus. Advocate Arvind Kumar Pathak, a member of the Ramgarh Bar Association and resident of Gola, was traveling to Ramgarh. He later succumbed to his injuries at RIMS.
The injured passengers treated at Sadar Hospital include Bijendra Rajwar and Kanhu Kumar (Chas Bokaro), Suraj Rajwar (Balidih, Bokaro), Madhu Rani (Bokaro Steel City), Sarita Kumari and W. Mahato (Katra, Dhanbad), Surkhi Pandey and Mantu Kumar (Peterwar), Saguffa alias Pammi (Indrajara Charhi), Shibu Sav and Pano Devi (Jenamod Bokaro), Basanti Devi (Rangamati, Chas), along with eight others including five children from the same family, all residents of Bokaro.
