Chief Minister Hemant Soren marked his 50th birthday on August 10th. This year’s celebration was particularly somber due to the recent passing of his father, Shibu Soren, on August 4th. CM Hemant Soren is currently observing the mourning rituals for his father. On his official X account, CM Hemant Soren shared a heartfelt post.
He wrote, “Today, I miss Baba (father) so much. My life-giver, the roots of my life, who gave me life, is no longer with me. This is a very painful moment. The strong fingers that held my steps in childhood, whose struggles and unwavering love for people taught me to live with sensitivity, taught me to easily turn every difficulty into an opportunity, and when there was darkness on the way, showed me the way forward by becoming a lamp, that Baba Dishom Guru Ji has become a part of nature and is everywhere.”
The CM further wrote, “Today, although Baba is not physically present, I believe that he is in every ray of sunlight, in the shade of every tree, in every flowing air, in every stream of the river, in the flame of every fire, in which he taught me truth, struggle, never to bow down – to fearlessly serve the people. Baba’s ideals, thoughts, and the lessons of education are not just a son’s duty for me, but also a social responsibility. He taught me to connect with my people, told me that leadership means service, not governance. Today, when I take up the responsibility of my state, his words, the trust in his eyes, his face stained with hard work and struggle, a determined mind to end the suffering of the people, the resolve to bring the exploited, the deprived, and the tribal identity into the mainstream, guides me in every decision. Baba is now in nature. Now in this soil, in the air, in the forests, in the rivers, in the mountains, in the songs – like those countless folk tales that always remain immortal. Baba, I am proud that I am your offspring, I am honored that I am a part of the brave warrior Dishom Guru Ji. Brave Dishom Guru Shibu Soren Amar Rahe! Brave Dishom Guru Shibu Soren Zindabad!”
