A couple has been apprehended in Ranchi, Jharkhand, in connection with a high-profile theft case involving the theft of jewelry from a neighbor. The arrested individuals, identified as Kavita Sharma, an employee of CMPDIL, and her husband, Vikas Bahadur, are accused of stealing approximately 26 lakhs worth of gold and diamond jewelry. The theft occurred on May 7th at the residence of Rani Kumari, the wife of Aman Kumar Singh, also a CMPDIL employee, located on Kanke Road. The stolen items were valued at around 30 lakhs. Following the incident, Rani Kumari filed an FIR at the Gonda police station. Acting on the complaint, the Ranchi police formed a team under the leadership of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sadar. The investigation revealed that Kavita Sharma, who lived near the victim and frequently visited the victim’s home, orchestrated the theft. Sharma allegedly sent the stolen jewelry to her friend in Hyderabad via courier and subsequently provided a fake bill of purchase. The couple then pledged the stolen jewelry at Muthoot Finance in Hyderabad and obtained a loan of 5.43 lakhs. The police are also investigating the involvement of other individuals in the crime.
