In the Bariyatu police station area of Latehar district, Jharkhand, criminals set a Hyva truck on fire near the Phulbasiya railway coal siding. The incident occurred late Saturday night and involved gunfire. The perpetrators also left behind a pamphlet claiming responsibility for the act. The note, signed in the name of Rahul Dubey, threatened individuals involved in the coal business, demanding extortion money. According to initial reports, the criminals arrived at the railway siding, set fire to a vehicle, and fired shots before fleeing the scene. A police team, led by Bariyatu police station in-charge Devendra Kumar, promptly arrived at the site to investigate and search for the criminals, who had already escaped. Authorities are actively investigating the incident. This event is suspected to be part of a pattern of intimidation and extortion attempts targeting coal traders in the Latehar district. The pamphlet explicitly warned of dire consequences for those who fail to comply with the gang’s demands, suggesting the motive was indeed extortion. Police have assured that the perpetrators will be apprehended soon.
