A horrific road accident occurred in Deoghar, Jharkhand, on Tuesday morning, resulting in the deaths of 5 Kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva). Over a dozen others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The bus, carrying Kanwariyas who had performed a ‘Jalabhishek’ (ritual of offering water) at the Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar, was en route to the Basukinath Temple in Dumka for another Jalabhishek. The collision happened in the Mohanpur police station area, where the bus crashed into a truck loaded with LPG cylinders. The impact of the collision was severe, claiming the lives of five Kanwariyas at the scene. The cause of the accident is believed to be the driver falling asleep. Nishikant Dubey, a Lok Sabha MP, posted on X (formerly Twitter) about the incident, stating that 18 people had died. However, these figures have not been officially confirmed. The bus was severely damaged in the collision, and the accident caused chaos at the scene. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed his grief over the incident.
