Deputy Commissioner Javed Hussain Opens Khunti Sports Competition

Deputy Commissioner Mo. Javed Hussain officially opened the hockey and archery competition held in Khunti district on National Sports Day, which also coincided with the birth anniversary of hockey icon Major Dhyan Chand. The inauguration featured a joint lighting of the ceremonial torch, symbolising the spirit of sportsmanship.

Nearly four hundred athletes from across the district gathered to take part in the event. The Deputy Commissioner interacted with the participants, offering words of encouragement and stressing that sports contribute to mental strength, discipline, teamwork, confidence, and leadership qualities.

He called upon the athletes to maintain consistent practice, work diligently, and pursue their sporting ambitions with perseverance. The competition showcased enthusiastic performances, with players adhering to the principles of fair play and dedication.

The organizers intend the tournament to serve as a launchpad for emerging talent, raise awareness about sports among young people, and promote a healthy, disciplined lifestyle throughout the community.
