A commotion erupted at a public meeting in the village of Sukudih, under the Gungghasa Panchayat of Topchanchi block in Dhanbad, regarding the selection of an Anganwadi worker. The situation led to the cancellation of the selection process. Nineteen women had submitted applications for the position. After the evaluation of each application and the assignment of scores, it was observed that applications from women belonging to the tribal community were being sidelined. CDPO Mamta Sah announced the selection of a woman from the OBC category. This sparked an uproar among the tribal women. Seeing this, the CDPO left the meeting. Upon receiving information, Hariharpur police station in-charge Rahul Kumar Jha arrived with a police team and pacified the villagers. The villagers voiced their concerns, stating that although the Anganwadi center caters to children from the tribal community, the selection process was overlooking tribal applicants. Several panchayat representatives were present at the scene.
