Officials, including Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan and Senior Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar, recently inspected the ongoing Gaya Bridge Underpass widening project in Dhanbad. This crucial infrastructure upgrade aims to permanently resolve a long-standing issue for Dhanbad residents, with a projected completion date of December 2026. However, authorities are pushing to accelerate the timeline for an earlier finish.
The underpass expansion is a collaborative effort involving multiple departments such as water supply, electricity, road construction, the municipal corporation, railways, and BSNL. Its strategic importance is underscored by the numerous express trains, including key routes to Delhi, Mumbai, Gandhidham, and Pathankot, that operate above the construction zone.
During the inspection, all involved departments were present to ensure synchronized progress and address potential bottlenecks. Instructions were given for timely completion of individual tasks to prevent delays in the overall underpass widening. A significant proposal during the review was the inclusion of a utility corridor within the underpass. This corridor is intended to house essential services like water pipes, sewage lines, gas pipelines, and potentially pedestrian walkways, thereby avoiding future disruptions for maintenance or upgrades.
