In Govindpur village, located in the Jari block of the Chainpur sub-division, residents are expressing their anger over the complete shutdown of the electricity supply for the past three months. Villagers reported that a transformer in the village was damaged due to lightning three months ago. Since then, the village has been plunged into darkness.
The villagers claim that despite multiple notifications to the electricity department, neither a new transformer has been installed nor the old one repaired. This negligence has caused outrage among the people. Due to the lack of electricity, darkness descends upon homes as evening approaches. The studies of children are being affected because of the darkness. Children are forced to study by candlelight or lamp at night.
Moreover, the increasing threat of snakes and scorpions during the rainy season has further increased the villagers’ worries. The villagers stated that this negligence and inaction by the department reflects the apathy of the district administration. They have demanded the immediate installation of a new transformer or the repair of the old one so that the electricity supply can be restored in the village as soon as possible. The villagers have urged the department to take swift action.
