Security forces in Jharkhand continue their operations to rid the state of Naxalism and extremism. A recent search operation in the Lava Daag forest area of Ghaghra police station in Gumla district led to an encounter with Naxals belonging to the Jharkhand Janmukti Parishad (JJMP). During the operation, security forces were met with gunfire, leading to a retaliatory response. The ensuing clash resulted in the deaths of three Naxals, including Dilip Lohra, the JJMP’s sub-zonal commander. A significant amount of weaponry was recovered from the site, including an AK-47 and two INSAS rifles. The operation was launched based on intelligence received by the Gumla district SP, Harish Bin Jama, regarding the presence of the JJMP commander in the area. This encounter follows a similar incident in Bokaro district just ten days prior, where two Naxals, including a Maoist with a bounty of 5 lakhs, were killed.
