Authorities in East Singhbhum have cracked a baffling case of alleged theft, revealing a shocking twist: the complainant himself was the perpetrator. The incident, which occurred in the Aazadnagar police station area, involved a report of stolen gold jewelry from a residence on Bagan Shahi Road No. 7. Responding swiftly, police uncovered the truth within 24 hours.
Investigators discovered that Wakar Ahmed, who had presented himself as the victim and filed the theft report, was, in fact, the mastermind behind the staged crime. He has since been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. The recovered gold ornaments, valued at approximately ₹1.50 lakh, were found in his possession.
The investigation was initiated following Ahmed’s complaint, with a special team formed under the direction of City SP and led by Patamda DSP Bachan Dev Kujur. During interrogation, Ahmed’s statements were inconsistent, raising suspicions. Under intense questioning, the truth emerged: Ahmed confessed to staging the theft due to severe financial stress and mental distress within his family. He admitted to removing the gold jewelry from an almirah on the night of the 22nd and fabricating an external theft scenario. The police recovered a gold chain, four earrings, and a ring from him.
