Following a tragic incident at the Karma project in the Kuju OP area of Ramgarh, where four workers lost their lives due to a cave-in during illegal mining, a settlement has been reached. After intense protests and demands from the locals, the CCL management and district administration agreed to provide compensation. The agreement, finalized after a late-night meeting involving management, administration, and political parties, stipulates a total compensation of ₹8 lakh for the families of the deceased. Each family will receive ₹1.70 lakh from CCL and ₹30,000 from the district administration. Furthermore, the agreement includes providing employment to one member of each victim’s family through outsourcing. The victims were identified as Mo. Imtiyaz, Rameswar Manjhi, Wakil Karmali, and Nirmal Munda. The bodies were subsequently released, and the protest was called off after the successful negotiation.
