A tragic incident in the Simdega district of Jharkhand resulted in the deaths of a father-in-law and his daughter-in-law due to electrocution. The event occurred in Karadmair village, Bano block, when the father-in-law, Alfos Hobo, attempted to fix a malfunctioning fan at home. Upon touching the fan, he received an electric shock. His daughter-in-law, Kumudini Dungdung, tried to help him, but she too was electrocuted. A villager named Dilip Kandulna, who came to their aid, also suffered an electric shock but survived. Alfos Hobo and Kumudini Dungdung were declared dead at the community health center in Bano. The village is now in mourning and gripped by fear of electricity.
This incident follows previous tragedies involving electricity in the region. In 2024, in the Tamar police station area of Ranchi, three people, including a minor, died when a bus carrying a wedding party came into contact with a live wire. Five others were injured in that incident.
