Jharkhand, a state rich in forests, water, and minerals, presents a complex picture. Despite its mineral wealth, the state faces issues of displacement, protests against mining companies, and the fear of violence and imprisonment. Now, even Amba Prasad, the National Secretary of the Congress party and a former MLA, has lost faith in the administration and police of the Jharkhand government. She claims to fear for her life, worrying about potential harm within her own state and government.
Speaking at a press conference in Ranchi, Amba Prasad, the former MLA from Barkagaon, Hazaribagh, stated that she is at odds with a company (Ritwik) operating in her constituency. She alleged threats from the brother of the company owner, who is a BJP MP from Andhra Pradesh.
Amba Prasad questioned the administration under her own government, alleging that illegal mining is taking place in Barkagaon under police protection. She claims that instead of taking action, the administration is targeting her, her father Yogendra Sav (a former minister), her mother (also a former MLA), the people providing security for her, and her personal driver.
