Om Prakash Sahu, a resident of Kumhari village in Gumla, Jharkhand, has been lauded by the Prime Minister for his remarkable transformation. Leaving behind a life of violence, Sahu embraced fish farming, becoming a successful entrepreneur and providing employment opportunities for others. His story was highlighted on the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program on July 27th. The ‘Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana’ played a pivotal role in his success. With support from the district administration, he received training in fish farming and assistance in constructing ponds. This initiative sparked a ‘Matsya Kranti’ (fish revolution) in Gumla, leading over 150 families in the Basia area, formerly involved in violence, to adopt fish farming. They now cultivate fish, securing a better future for their families.
