Rigid bureaucratic hurdles and new gas procurement regulations have left the kitchen at Mohammadganj Police Station in Palamu dormant for over 14 days. Local gas agencies have reportedly refused to supply cylinders without a formal departmental connection and the mandatory One-Time Password (OTP) verification. Previously, cylinders were provided based on immediate requirements, but the shift to a stricter digital verification system has created a deadlock. Station In-charge Narayan Soren confirmed that while official correspondence has been initiated with the higher authorities to secure a valid connection, no resolution has been reached yet. Consequently, officers are either spending their own money at local eateries or subsisting on snacks while performing their grueling duties. The lack of a functional mess not only affects the morale of the force but also hampers their ability to provide hospitality to victims or rescued individuals who end up at the station.
