In the Barmer district of Rajasthan, on September 21st, a heart-wrenching scene unfolded. At around 10 am, cries erupted from a house in the Undu village of the Shiv police station area. Neighbors rushed to the scene to find a young man’s lifeless body on the floor. His girlfriend, overcome with grief, was clinging to his body, weeping uncontrollably. She cried out, ‘Shaukat, why did you do this? Why did you leave me? How will I live without you? Please wake up.’ The sight moved everyone present. The deceased, identified as Shaukat Khan, was 22 years old. The grieving girlfriend was 19. Police were notified, and they took possession of Shaukat’s body for a post-mortem examination. The investigation began with questioning. The girlfriend stated that she was in the kitchen when she went to call Shaukat, but the door was locked from the inside. Looking through the window, she saw Shaukat hanging from a noose. She informed Shaukat’s brother. She stated that she does not know why Shaukat took such a drastic step.
