Criminal activities are on the rise in Hazaribagh district, with brazen robberies becoming a growing concern. In a shocking incident on Friday night, unidentified assailants targeted a cement businessman’s home and shop in the Gorhar police station area of Barkattha. The owner of Suryakund Traders, Sunil Kumar Pandey, was allegedly held captive along with his son. According to reports, criminals, armed and masked, forced their way into the premises. They reportedly took Mr. Pandey to the upper floor of his shop, tied him up, and assaulted him. His son, Sumit Pandey, was also injured when reportedly struck with the butt of a gun. The perpetrators then proceeded to the residence, where they looted approximately six lakh rupees in cash along with gold and silver jewelry before making their escape. Law enforcement officials, including Barhi Subdivisional Police Officer Ajit Kumar Vimal, Barkattha Circle Inspector Imdad Ansari, and Gorhar Station House Officer Nitish Kumar, arrived at the scene following the incident. The injured family members received medical attention at the Barkattha Community Health Centre. The Subdivisional Police Officer assured that the investigation is underway, with police utilizing CCTV footage from surrounding areas to identify the culprits. An arrest is anticipated soon. Efforts are being made to bring those responsible to justice and prevent future occurrences of such violent crimes.
