Continuous rainfall has been battering Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, for nearly 20 hours. Roads and many neighborhoods in Ranchi have been completely inundated due to the rain. The city’s roads are so waterlogged that it seems vehicles are navigating through ponds rather than roads. The incessant rain has disrupted normal life, causing failures in essential systems. People in the neighborhoods are forced to wade through knee-deep water.
The situation is likely to persist for the next four to five days. The Meteorological Center in Ranchi has predicted heavy rainfall across the state for the next four to five days. A yellow alert has been issued for 18 districts in the state, and an orange alert has been issued for another six districts. The administration has also advised the general public to take precautions during the heavy rain, particularly concerning lightning strikes.
