The monsoon season continues to bring rainfall across the country. The weather department has warned that a new low-pressure area is forming in the Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours. This new weather system could cause torrential rains from eastern to western India. Heavy rainfall was observed in Delhi-NCR on Saturday night, and the weather department has predicted rain in the capital today.
The weather department forecasts cloudy skies and light to moderate rain in Delhi today. Thunderstorms are expected with the possibility of lightning and light to moderate rainfall this morning and afternoon. According to the weather department, this pattern of thunderstorms and rain may continue in Delhi until August 29.
Heavy rainfall alert has been issued for 40 districts of Uttar Pradesh. The intensity of rain may decrease from August 26. Heavy rainfall is expected in several other states as well.
Odisha experienced heavy rainfall on Saturday, and heavy rainfall is expected to continue for the next few days. West Bengal and Jharkhand are likely to receive rainfall for the next 3 to 4 days. Eastern Rajasthan may receive rain today, and southern Rajasthan is expected to have heavy rainfall until August 26. The weather department has predicted heavy rainfall in Gujarat until August 29. Konkan and central Maharashtra are expected to receive heavy rainfall until August 29, with the possibility of torrential rain in some areas on August 27 and 28.
The weather department has issued an orange alert for Uttarakhand. The department has cautioned people to remain vigilant for the next 24 to 72 hours. Districts like Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Nainital, Almora, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, and Udham Singh Nagar may experience very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms. There is also a possibility of rain in Pithoragarh.
