Relentless torrential rains have severely impacted life in the West Singhbhum district. The approach road to the culvert on the Kankuwa River, situated on the Jagannathpur-Jaintgarh main road, has been completely washed away, leading to the complete obstruction of traffic on this route. This has resulted in significant difficulties for local residents. Former MP Geeta Koda visited the site on Sunday to assess the situation. She interacted with the villagers present, listened to their problems, and assured them of a prompt solution. During the inspection, she directed PWD officials to expedite the repair work of the culvert and to ensure the provision of an alternative route until then to restore public movement. Geeta Koda emphasized that the convenience of the general public should be given priority. She also mentioned that several roads, bridges, and school buildings have been damaged due to the continuous rainfall in the district, and many of the poor’s houses in rural areas have also collapsed. BJP Jagannathpur Mandal President Rai Bhumij, Rohit Kumhar, Dayanidhi Pradhan, Ghanshyam Das, Sanjeev Kumhar, and several local villagers were present during the inspection. The former MP has requested the district administration to immediately repair all damaged roads and bridges, provide compensation to the families whose houses have been damaged by the rains, connect the affected families to various social security schemes, and repair potholes on the roads as soon as the rains stop to prevent accidents.
