Himachal and Uttarakhand Brace for Intense Downpours

The Himalayan states are preparing for a bout of intense precipitation as the monsoon cloud mass moves northward.

Uttarakhand districts such as Almora, Pithoragarh, Nainital, Rishikesh, Pauri Garhwal, Chamoli, Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, and Haridwar have all been issued heavy rain and thunderstorm alerts.

In Himachal Pradesh, several districts are under moderate rain warnings, signaling a significant amount of moisture but less severe than neighboring Uttarakhand. Jammu & Kashmir also reports heavy rain and gusty conditions in several regions.

The combined effect of these showers could raise river levels quickly, prompting local authorities to stay on alert for potential flash floods and landslides in the hilly terrain.
