IIIT Ranchi Organizes Internal Round of Smart India Hackathon 2026, 43 Student Teams Participate

The internal round of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026 was organized at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Ranchi, where 43 student teams from the institute participated and presented solutions to various real-life problems.

This initiative was organized under the guidance of Prof. Rajiv Shrivastava, Director of IIIT Ranchi, and led by Dr. Dhiran Kumar Mahto, the institute's Coordinator and SPOC. The program was supported by the institute's Innovation Council (IIC) and the technical community of IIIT Ranchi, House of Geeks.

Prior to the internal round, various awareness and introductory sessions were conducted at the institute, encouraging students from different semesters to participate in Smart India Hackathon 2026. Participating teams presented their solutions by working on problem statements related to various sectors including agriculture, healthcare, smart cities, and education.

The projects of the participating teams were evaluated on various parameters including understanding of the problem, innovation, feasibility, social impact, presentation skills, and teamwork. Members of the jury interacted with each team, evaluated their solutions, and provided necessary suggestions and feedback. Subsequently, teams with better prospects were selected through final comparative evaluation.

Key projects presented included an intelligent automated location-determination system based on artificial intelligence and machine learning by Tensor Titans, a 2.5D LiDAR-based dynamic environment perception system by Pseudo Secure, and an artificial intelligence-based smart agriculture assistant system by Cubits Crew.

The selected teams will further develop and refine their solutions and move forward with the aim of representing IIIT Ranchi in the national level round of Smart India Hackathon 2026.

The internal round provided students with an opportunity to work collaboratively on real-life problems, receive suggestions and feedback from experts, and enhance their technical, presentation, and problem-solving skills. During this period, students also gained experience in developing innovation-based ideas into practical and socially useful technological solutions.

Prof. Rajiv Shrivastava, Director of IIIT Ranchi, lauded the efforts of the students, faculty members, coordinators, and student teams for this initiative. He emphasized the importance of such platforms for students to work towards innovation, technical learning, and solving real-life challenges.

The internal round of Smart India Hackathon 2026 is part of IIIT Ranchi's continuous efforts to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, technical excellence, and socially relevant problem-solving.
