New Integrated Agricultural Processing Facility in Nagri Receives Green Light

Ranchi – Agriculture Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkhi formally approved the construction of a model integrated packhouse and agricultural processing centre in Nagri during a horticulture department review meeting at the Nepal House Secretariat.

The minister highlighted the importance of adhering to a strict timeline and instructed department officials to ensure disciplined execution. The centre will be run by the ICAAR‑NISA team in Nagri, delivering scientific storage, grading, packaging, processing and market linkage services to local fruit and vegetable growers.

These facilities are expected to improve the market and export potential of the region's produce. Minister Tirkhi also advocated for a cluster‑based horticulture development model, delegating regular monitoring duties to the five deputy directors of the horticulture directorate.

Key directives included developing a dedicated website for the beekeeping scheme, incorporating beneficiary farmer profiles and success stories, and establishing effective market linkages for honey products. Additional points covered the launch of a high‑tech nursery and horticulture park, a comprehensive work plan for the Ghodan Nyay Scheme, and the encouragement of value‑addition and processing‑focused farming methods.

Present at the meeting were Department Secretary Abubakar Siddiq P., Special Secretary Gopal Tiwari, Horticulture Director Parveen Toppo and other senior officials.
