Investigation Finds Evidence After Horrific Crime at Jharkhand DJ Night

A DJ night held as part of the Tii celebrations on 14 September in a Chatra village turned into a nightmare when a minor was allegedly subjected to group sexual assault and later murdered by two men.

On 15 September, authorities were informed that a girl's body lay among the bushes close to Basra village. Police from the Kundaa police station rushed to the spot, retrieved the corpse, and arranged for a medical examination. A forensic team was deployed to collect trace elements from the crime scene.

The investigation uncovered several pieces of material evidence: a red torch, a hair pin, clothing items belonging to the suspects, and a mobile phone. These have been entered into the case file as critical evidence. The investigation is being pursued under the POCSO Act and other serious criminal provisions.

Subsequent raids resulted in the detention of two suspects, named as Kamlesh Bharati and Manoj Kumar, both residents of the Kundaa area. Both individuals, during police interrogation, acknowledged their role in the assault and the subsequent killing, citing fear of being caught as the motive for the murder.

Law enforcement continues to analyze forensic findings, technical examinations and intelligence inputs to strengthen the prosecution's case against the accused.
