Investigation Launched After Haider Ali Murder Linked to Madina Travels
Police in Jharkhand have launched an inquiry after the murder of Mohammad Haider Ali, a pilgrim from Chorghara village, was linked to alleged misconduct by Madina Travels. The victim’s parents were on an Umrah trip to Mecca, scheduled to return on October 24, but the travel agency reportedly took an extra ₹30,000 without arranging the flight.
Haider Ali, distressed by the delay, visited a local madrasa several times, reportedly gathering information about suspicious activities associated with the agency. Tensions rose, and on a Thursday night in the Rajdhanwar police area, a group of eight men, including the agency’s operator Maulana Ilyas Ansari, allegedly assaulted him.
Medical reports confirm that the injuries sustained during the beating led to Haider Ali’s death. His brother, Mohammad Parvez Ansari, filed a murder FIR naming all eight individuals as suspects. The Giridih police have seized statements, secured the crime scene, and begun forensic analysis.
Investigators are now examining the financial transaction involving the extra ₹30,000, the agency’s failure to provide the promised return, and any possible links to broader illicit activities. The police have pledged to prosecute those responsible based on the evidence uncovered.
The case is drawing attention to the vulnerabilities pilgrims face when dealing with unregulated travel operators, prompting calls for stricter regulatory frameworks and consumer protection measures.
