A serious allegation has been leveled against the Jharkhand state government, accusing it of fabricating new crimes to deliberately conceal existing offenses. BJP State President and Leader of Opposition, Babulal Marandi, stated that creating new criminal incidents to hide ongoing criminal activities has become a disturbing habit for the government and the system in Jharkhand. Recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) actions in the coal mafia’s operations in Dhanbad have unearthed startling evidence. However, the most alarming revelation is that some ‘top police officials,’ reportedly enriched by illegal coal earnings, have allegedly tasked coal mafia operatives with eliminating their own ground-level associates permanently. This directive is reportedly aimed at preventing crucial information from surfacing during ED investigations. Marandi warned that plots are allegedly being hatched to murder individuals currently being questioned by the ED, ensuring that the truth remains buried. He drew a parallel to past incidents in the state where ‘encountering evidence’ under the guise of apprehending criminals was a tactic employed. Jharkhand has previously seen a Director General of Police accused by ruling party members themselves of orchestrating contract killings and of being the most corrupt official of his kind in the state’s history, breaking all records of malfeasance. Marandi urged the ED to exercise extreme caution, emphasizing that in this environment, those who suppress the truth, not those who speak it, hold sway. When power, the system, and criminal elements align, the silencing of justice becomes a mere formality.
